On the Third Day of Christmas - A Cozy Cabin Dream

The Twelve Days of Christmas

I think we all have some sort of "bucket list" or dream list of things our heart would love to see, experience and feel at some point in our life. One particular thing that's been on my list for years now is Christmas in a cabin. Living in California, right near the coast doesn't present us with too much of an opportunity to experience a white Christmas. Because of the lack of snow, experiencing time tucked away in a a snowy cabin with family over the Christmas holiday is something my heart  has always wanted to experience. Each time I think about this dream the feeling that comes over me is always the same....I feel warm and my heart feels full because of who I'm spending my time with in this cozy little cabin.

A funny thing about this dream is that I've been imagining myself in what I'll be wearing {major detail I know!} but the outfit has never changed...I've always imagined myself in a cozy knitted sweater with the outward braid pattern stitching, and cozy boots. Cute yet casual, simple and warm. I also always imagine myself with a mug of somethin' warm in my hand. If  you follow me on instagram you'd probably notice I have a thing for mugs, red in particular so naturally my cup would be some sort of red.

Even  more important than what I'd be wearing would be the company I'd be in, and the time we'd get to spend together. Because it would be freezing, I imagine lots of indoor time. Time to exchange thoughts on just how beautiful the scenery is. Time to share about how cool this time is together and remark about how glad we are to be here. I image laughs being had, yummy food being prepared and bonds being strengthened. A simple time where we were thankful  just being together. And just to be real, because we are all coastal Californian's and because snow vacations are not something we do all the time {like ever!} I know we'll spend lots of time freezing out butts off together as we try to venture out in this winter wonderland we've surrounded ourselves in! Will it be fun and amazing? oh yes...but without it's reality? definitely not!

I also imagine plenty of time to replenish on my own. Time to sit by the cozy fire, drink my warm beverage and journal or read. Time to sit by the window and watch the snow fall for as long as my heart wanted to. It would be a time to breath deep, to take in and fill the heart. I can't wait!!

  5. You should totally take a trip somewhere snowy one day! I'm used to the cold and snow here in boston, but for someone who doesn't get to experience it often, it's definitely a treat.

  12. My family went to a cabin for the weekend one winter. Half of us got sick and it didn't snow at all so we didn't get to use the snow shoes we'd rented. I still have good memories of that trip, though! Haha.

  15. I've always wanted to do this too. It's actually something that my Mom and I have both always dreamed about. We want to have our whole family together in a big cabin for Christmas morning. It just sounds like so much fun! Oh and I LOVE that outfit!
