My baby sisters came to town this weekend!!! It was so fun spending time with them and showing them around the city! It's weekends like this that make me wish I lived a few hundred miles closer to them.
My mom is putting on a little camp for my sisters and her friends and, for one of the craft projects they're going to, needed a whole bunch of t-shirts to rip up. On Friday night she asked me if I knew of any thrift stores that would be selling them for cheap so, of course, I had to introduce her to the wonder that is the Goodwill Outlet. Everything by the pound? Best thing ever! Of course, bringing the girls anywhere is never simple. Dinah found a fun pair of Heelies and, being Dinah, put them on - carrying her own shoes with her. About twenty minutes before the store was closing, she realized she only had one shoe in her hand! Dinah, Leah, and I spent the next twenty minutes rummaging through the bins, trying to find the missing shoe. Thankfully, Leah found it a few minutes before we were needing to leave.
The next day, Nate and I took the girls downtown to show them around. They loved visiting Pioneer Courthouse and trying to figure out why their voices echoed in the mini brick amphitheater. I think Dinah's already planning some sort of science experiment to try to recreate it.
At Pioneer Courthouse there was a Redhead convention going on and they were attempting to set a world record for number of redheads in one place. It really made the girls and me jealous that we weren't born redheads.
Since Dinah's a little bookworm, Nate and I thought it would be fun to take her to Powells, the largest used bookstore in the world. She was pretty much in heaven and didn't know what to do with herself. She even talked our mom into having us all go back again on Sunday!
Killer Burger and the Pittock Mansion had to be added to our list of places to take the girls. Yes, Nate and I let the girls climb the trees at Pittock mansion. We're going to be those parents someday.
After heading home and resting a bit while watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Nate and I thought it would be fun to take the girls to Elk Rock to go wading in the river.
How foolish we are. Did we really think that two little rambunctious ten year olds were only going to wade? In no time they were sopping wet. They had a blast!
It really was the perfect way to end a wonderful few days with my sisters. I can't wait until the next time they come to visit!
